Just the other night my family and I were all sitting around the dinner table discussing our day when my eight year old brought up that she was learning about slogans. My first reaction was to wonder why an eight year old is learning about slogans and not things like, I don’t know, how to write in cursive or the presidents.
After further discussing I found out that they were talking about businesses in their town and then started talking about slogans for each business. They learned about how each company takes a very long time to come up with a slogan and then they carefully research it to make sure it will be something catchy that people will like. They also learned that slogans are something that helps people remember their businesses.
My daughter decided she wanted to know all the slogans for every company her father and I have ever worked for. My husband told her his company’s slogan is Just Energy has power. She stared at him blankly and said, “daddy, that’s it?” I guess she was expecting something more flashy.
